ADL Travels

ADL Travels | A Design Lifestyle - Jacqueline Palmer

I had an amazing experience during my recent vacation to Colombia, and it made me realize that I haven’t traveled internationally since my study abroad in Italy in 2011, more than four years ago. I love traveling, flying, exploring, meeting new people, trying new cuisines, and writing about my experiences comes very naturally to me. When you travel you try new things, conquer fears, meet new people. Every time I return I feel that I have had a life changing experience and have learned imperative and valuable life lessons. Also, being a bit of a history nerd, traveling is the best way to learn the origins of culture and region.

Recently, my life has been a bit of a rollercoaster, and I have not had the chance to do much traveling up until this year. I find that once I make a public commitment I am more likely to accomplish my goals, so I am making a pact to travel to three new domestic destinations and one new country every a year. I will be documenting my travels on the ADL blog in the new Travel category and Instagram with the hashtag #ADLtravels.

To get the ball rolling, I will first post about my most recent trip to Colombia and then reflect on my study abroad trip to Italy. I am not a travel professional or expert. I find that traveling without an itinerary and exploring by way of reference from the locals and fellow travelers is a better experience than hours of online research and reading. You may not find the best of the best from me, but you will find a unique experience based on my path.

To start us off, I have created a wish list of destinations. This is just the beginning; I will be adding many, many more, and I will be using the Travel Map on  Trip Advisor to document my wish list and progress. Please feel free to comment on destination suggestions and recommendations of your favorite places to stay, explore, and dine. Bon voyage!

International: France, Greece, Spain, Morocco, China, Cuba…

Domestic: Tennessee, New Orleans, Washington D.C., Philadelphia, Austin, Portland…
