Harlem Photo Shoot and nousDECOR Instagram Takeover

Harlem Photo Shoot and nousDECOR Instagram Takeover | A Design Lifestyle - Jacqueline Palmer 2

Yesterday, I spent the last leg of my End of Summer ADL Travel tour in New York City photographing ADL’s very first interior design project. The project is located in Harlem and is a home to a young traveling male professional. The design heroes the original brick wall and features blue hues and bold textures. During the photoshoot I did an Instagram takeover with nousDECOR, a community curated decor ideas and solutions platform. This is the first of many ADL collaborations with nousDECOR, including a Pinterest board and upcoming interior design content. The Instagram takeover focused on styling tips for photographing interiors. Here are the tips and shots taken during the photo shoot. Be sure to stay tuned for the professional photographs of the interior to be posted on the Harlem portfolio page this week.

Thank you nousDECOR for letting ADL host the Instagram takeover and for the lovely article about A Design Lifestyle and me.

Happy Tuesday nousDECOR fans! This is Jacqueline Palmer from @adesignlifestyle! I will be taking over the @nousdecor Instagram account today during an interiors photoshoot in New York City! Stay tuned for some fun styling shots! #ADLNYCphotoshoot

Style Tip 1: A designed house is not a home until you add personal elements that make the space feel and look lived in. “Throw” a throw in the seating area and add a pair of shoes or glasses to make the room inviting to the viewer. – @adesignlifestyle #ADLNYCphotoshoot

Style Tip 2: If the room you are photographing has a bar cart, style it as if you are about to entertain and serve up a few signature cocktails. Stock the bar for your client and add fresh ingredients, tools, and recipe books. This will further engage your audience and add more life and color to the room. – @adesignlifestyle #ADLNYCphotoshoot

Style Tip 3: Be different, and don’t be afraid to get weird! How else will your design and photographs stand out from the crowd. Add an obscure object or accessory, or see what your client already has to add that unique touch. – @adesignlifestyle #ADLNYCphotoshoot

Style Tip 4: Plan your photoshoot a few hours after sunrise or before sunset for optimal natural light. The more light the better! – @adesignlifestyle #ADLNYCphotoshoot

Style Tip 5: Have fun! Styling and photo shoots are my favorite part of an interior design project. It’s the time when your design ideas come to life and you have the opportunity to showcase your work. Have fun and enjoy the process, you deserve it after all the hard work of designing a room. Thank you nousDECOR for hosting this Instagram take over and stay tuned for the professional photos. Don’t forget to follow @adesignlifestyle! – @adesignlifestyle #ADLNYCphotoshoot

Here is a preview of the professional photography. Stay tuned for more photos on the Portfolio page this week!
